The Hanoi People’s Committee has released a directive detailing the city’s plan for shifting its public bus system towards electric and environmentally friendly energy vehicles.
As stated in a notification from April 8, Hanoi plans to transition all of its public buses to electric or eco-friendly power sources by the year 2030. By April 15, 2025, an elaborate yearly plan needs to be presented to the city administration.
The city has requested an immediate reassessment and revision of the standards used to evaluate the quality of public bus services, aiming to have the recommendations completed by the end of this month.
The construction authority will oversee the distribution of land and planning for electric vehicle charging stations, alongside developing incentive programs for low-interest loans aimed at promoting investment in eco-friendly buses by April.
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce will guarantee a consistent energy supply, while the Treasury will simplify borrowing processes to assist enterprises in obtaining financing.
