Bernardo Tavares, head coach of PSM Makassar, voiced concerns about the training field at Kalegowa Stadium, Gowa, South Sulawesi.
He urged stadium officials to repair and improve the quality of the field for the safety and performance of players.
According to Tavares, the poor condition of the field could lead to serious injuries among players during training sessions.
He emphasized that uneven surfaces impact technical preparation, including first touches and precise passing.
The Portuguese coach noted that tactical drills cannot be executed effectively due to the bad field surface at Kalegowa.
He stated, “We can’t perform quality passing or first touches under the current conditions.”
Tavares called on those responsible for field maintenance to act quickly for the sake of the players and team.
In contrast, Tavares praised the condition of PSM’s main venue, Gelora BJ Habibie Stadium in Parepare.
He described the field there as well-maintained and suitable for both matches and training purposes.
“I must say we have a stadium (BJ Habibie) with a good field,” Tavares added in his press conference.
PSM Makassar will face Semen Padang FC in week 28 of Liga 1 2024/2025 on Thursday, April 10.
The match is scheduled at 3:30 PM WIB (4:30 PM WITA) at Gelora BJ Habibie Stadium, Parepare.
Ahead of the match, PSM brought 23 players to their final training session in preparation for the important fixture.
Despite field complaints, Tavares remains focused on securing victory in the upcoming league match.
