A restaurant in Chiang Mai, Thailand, has sparked public outrage with a contentious discount offer that critics claim promotes body shaming.

Chiang Mai Breakfast World provided discounts of up to 20% to patrons who could successfully navigate through progressively tighter spaces between vertical metal bars.

The campaign faced significant backlash across social media platforms following its exposure through an Instagram video posted by prominent British travel bloggers on April 6. This clip quickly gained traction, amassing upwards of 58,000 likes along with more than 2,000 comments.

Users of social media swiftly criticized the eatery’s unconventional advertising approach.

A comment from Instagram user Jennifer_pwnnington read, “This represents some of the most severe cases of body shaming I’ve seen,” whereas another user named iamqfrost remarked, “Those who find such content amusing can expect their own reserved spot in hell.”
